A suggestion, RE: ADS...

This WEB site is owned and managed by Wilbur Harris. His decisions should be his and his alone. But, a suggestion. Could AD guidelines be set up, so as to restrict certain posts about products. NO prices, descriptions, ETC ? Could a company or individual refer to a new product or refer to their AD in classifieds ONLY ? I am sure that many of us don't routinely read all of company ADs, but we might, if a reference ONLY was made to a NEW product. or if an HONEST inquiry was made, could an individual refer to a named AD. I know that this is a forum for sharing ideas, match results, ETC. but this might solve the overload of touting products and promoting others.

IMHO.

whatever he decides is the policy. I would think, however, that someone like Kelbly's, who is a paid advertiser to this website, would be cut some slack so as to be able to make a forum announcement that they have something new and check my website vs. someone like me who just posts an ad from time to time. There is a difference between ongoing ad support vs. intermittent imo.

Am, I nutz . . . maybe, but . . .

A new product announcement from Kelbly's, or, others, of similar stature, in the BR communtiy, strikes me as, primarily, NEWS . . . and only slightly as advertising . . . but, as Greg points out, Wilbur IS the BOSS!:eek: I can't wait to see where Wilbur weighs-in on this . . . :D RG

wilbur is THE boss.
my 2 cents worth is NEW PRODUCT announcement, complete with pricing and options for a product within the community is fine. if sales are expected from this site, then it should be followed up with an ad in the classifieds. most of us like to hear about the new stuff.

Gentlemen ...

To be in compliance with Wilbur's Announcement I believe all James Kelbly had to say was:
"I have new products that I would like to introduce to the Benchrest community. Pictures, prices, and details are now posted in the Kelbly's site at:http://www.kelbly.com/main.html and in Benchrest Central's Classifieds." If, he indeed, had them also advertised there. :)

Wilbur can police his forum - its not your job.

And as long as you're asking ---

I think its great to see product announcements. We don't need anyone flogging the same thing over and over but a new action is news, at least the first time.

Jim's announcement was clear and straightforward. No big sales pitch just "here it is". A handy news item if you're a shooter. Its not a cell phone, mp player or male enhancement device.

Just My Opinion

Jim Kelbly's announcement was no more a product promotion than
Eric Steckers announcement that Jackets will now be available.
I personally want to know when something new happens. We are
all looking for another mousetrap. Endorsements of products happens
on the forum all the time, but it has yet to look like the yellow pages.

How does it work as a male enhancement device? This could be the answer.:D

a new action or a pallet of jackets IS a male enhancement device. at least a temporary one.

Yeah I got it. I just have to worry how the Old Lady will buy it.

The god Lord knows after all the birthday gifts of rifles and fishing rods over the years, she still has questions?:D
