I would like to take this opportunity to give credit to some great people.
First to Bill Myers, my gunsmith, who is in the middle of the battle of his life. During a remission Bill offered to build me a sporter. I ordered the parts/pieces for him to do so. Bill had a stock that was ready to go and a 'good' barrel in the shop .
Alan Hall got me a Hall sporter action as quick as he could, knowing time might be limited.
And last but not least to Gordon Eck. When it became obvious Bill was not going to be able finish the rifle Gordon was quick to stand up and offered to finish the work. Now this rifle had a barrel that Gordon was not terribly fond of but that did not stop him from offering. I sent the parts to Gordon with the caveat that he do it his way under his terms.
The completed rifle arrived yesterday. I have had the opportunity to run about 100 rounds down the barrel. She shows great promise....sure hope I'm up to driving it well enough to not embarrass any of these fine folks. I'm gonna try to get Bill out to the range this weekend and let him shoot her.
I write this with tears in my eyes. Many are for Bill but the remainder are due to the great folks we hang around with in rim fire bench rest. What a terrific bunch you are! Thanks from the bottom of my heart. bob
