just had to say thanks again on the tenon spacer tool.......

dang that makes a lot of stuff easier.

made mine and took some measurements, took it off, put it back on and re-measure...very repeatable tool.....

thanks

I think they have been in use a long time. There was a thread a couple of years ago. Some people made them out of steel but Jackie made one out of delrin that actually has a mic spindle permanently attached which was pretty neat. Jackie said the delrin sleeve was repeatable so I copied that from him. I left the back end open on mine for measuring all the different surfaces of a Remington style bbl tenon.

I LOVE machining delrin :) I also have a good design for a nearly universal 'firing pin assembly' removal tool. Bore guides are also fun to make.

You must not have seen the response I got on the last page of the 'Oppressive Freight Charges' thread. I'm actually a jerk  And most of the respondents on my Light Varmint for Score thread think I am stupid.;)

Ray, I don't think we've met, but I don't think you are a jerk or stupid. You seem like a nice enough guy that has put a good amount of thought into your posts. We don't all have to agree on everything. I hope to meet you some day, and I'm sure we'll get along just fine. It's easy to come across differently on here than what we really are. I don't judge people by what they say on here unless it's totally obvious that someone is an a$$. There aren't many of us like that on here IMO. Keep posting and shoot well.--Mike

i only read 600/1000, gunsmith, br and competion only br.......

I second the above. I am primarily a lurker as I don't have anything constructive to add to what you gentlemen freely give of your time and experience, and for that I thank you. I run a small repair shop in S. E. Okla., and the knowledge I have gleaned from these threads is priceless. I wonder if yuou might be imposed upon, at your convenience of course, to post drawings/pictures of the bore guide you referred to in this post? I have made them from various materials, not all of which have been satisfactory. It would seem to me that delrin might be the best material of all. Thank you in advance . tramrd

I don't really have prints or even drawings. I mostly I make them for my rimfires as none of the available ones have impressed me whereas the Lucas guides for the centerfires are pretty nice. I use some black delrin rod I get from MSC. The main thing I do is make the actual rod guide a more precise fit on the 20 cal rod I use for my rimfires. If I have a 'store bought' guide that is a bit loose in the rec I cut a fat o'ring groove in the OD of the guide to center it up. If you do this make sure the o'ring is in a solid area of the rec if the rec has one.

Good luck
