7mm Rem Mag and BR

Recently, I ran across a bullet manufacturers listing of "1000yd" ; it included a 160g AIR bullet for the 7 Rem Mag. Though the precision and logical thought required in BR is of interest to me, I do not participate due to travel and expense considerations. However, I have a 7mm Rem Mag Savage in 110 series that astounds me with its accuracy , especially using the Winchester black box Ballistic Tip. However, until seeing the ad for the "1000yd" bullets I never thought of the cartridge being used in BR.
Do some people use it and to what level has it performed? I realize of course that the rifle would be custom, and the rounds handloads. I've heard so many pro's and con's over the years about the belt, but have also learned that faulty theories get off repeated til they become "fact".
Thanks for any helpful insight into this. Pat

In the PAST lee use to run an ad about a record holder using their dies.
Seems to me it was a 7mm mag. I have seen 284 win used with heavy bullets.
A stock rifle will not do well in competition.

Belted cases are not the norm in comp. try a wsm if you need a fire breathing magnum. Or do like the crowd lately- shoot a dasher or get beat by a dasher.

There actually was a fellow in Virginia that shot a 7Mag in 1000 yard benchrest and did quite well with it.

And many people shoot a 300 Win Mag. Belt and all.
