I am inquiring to see what kind of accuracy potential this bullet has in 6 PPC's, 6 BR's , 6/250, 243, 243 AI's set up to benchrest standards.

Any loads would be greatly appreciated, either public or private: keithcandler@msn.com

thanks in advance

75 gr Hornady V-Max

Just worked up a load for this bullet in my Farley actioned varmint rifle. The barrel is a 1:8" twist Shilen SM that I had been using with 105 gr A-Max bullets, but wanted to see how it shot with lighter bullets. Tried several incremental ladder loads with 70 and 75 grain bullets and it indicated a preference for the 75 gr V-Max and N-135 powder. I loaded up 5 at 3100 fps and went to the range. The first shot out of an oiled bore hit 1/4" low and right. The next four went into a .064" group. Wish I had fired a fouling shot before the 5 shot group. IMHO this bullet is a true winner. I used it in my 6mm Rem to get me and my buddy into the VHA 500 yard club. 5 total shots off a 100 yard zero and a bad computer ballistic program. It also was the bullet of choice for my 243 AI.

75 VMax is a winner!!!

I put a Shilen barrel on my Savage (Stevens) action to make a coyote gun. 1:12 twist, 27" long, chambered to a 6mm Rem SAMMI min. I am pushing the 75 VMax at 3550 fps with absolutely great results. I frequently shoot 0.3s at 100 and sub-1" at 300 yds. I tried some 70 SMK and 70 Bergers at well. The Bergers and VMaxs grouped about the same and were a little better than the SMK in my gun. I have never brought custom bullets, but I don't know that there is a much better value that the VMax. A lot of bullet for a reasonable price. As to if it is benchrest grade..... The pros would have to make that call. I am justing getting into that world.

Luck, tiny
