I have 3 Remington 700 magazine followers all short action I can’t tell any difference in the actual followers but they were for a 22-250, a 243, and a 308. They got mixed up 20 years ago. I have one of them in a 308 rifle and the thing jams it is a single shot for all intents and purposes. Can someone tell me if there is a subtle difference in the geometry of the follower and if so what and where to measure? I looked for the obvious like the follower in backwards (maybe I should do that again?), the leaf spring bent etc. These are the Deluxe models with steel followers. The box is not binding in the stock and I cannot find that the follower is catching. It is not lifting the shell into proper position. Thank you for your help and suggestions. STBE

They all three use the same number follower. Check to make sure that the magazine box isn't pinched in and keeping the follower from coming to the top of the magazine. Also, check to make sure that the front of the follower isn't dipping down.

I recommend taking it to a local gunsmith or have a friend with some gun experience look at it...it is nearly impossible to diagnose on a forum..since you state that everything is in place and the follower is moving properly...
