They can be trued up like a Remington. The shape of the receiver requires a little different set up to hold it to machine the face, lug mating surfaces, and re-cut the threads if desired. The push feed post 64s are the easiest to work on in my opinion, but they can all be done. Most of the new Short mag actions have a larger and fine thread tenon, I don't remember the exact spec. I haven't had a chance to see one of the FN actions apart, so I can't speak to those. The standard 1"-16 TPI tenon on all older model 70s is not recommended for WSM or Remington Ultra Mag cases.

I did a model 70 Coyote in 243 years ago. I trued up the action, re-cut the threads, sleeved the bolt, and fitted a Krieger varmint profile barrel. That was my most accurate hunting rifle for several years consistently shooting 3 shot groups in the 3s.

All of these gentleman have excellent reputations. It's probably just a question of which one is willing and how busy they are.

Greg Tannel at Gre'-Tan Rifles rebuilds Winchester Model 70 actions. He re-machines the action and bolt, double sleeves the bolt, bushes the firing pin, laps the lugs, etc. He is about to do mine. His web page is at: https://www.gretanrifles.com/
