I`m well aware of that this is not the proper place for my question, has nothing to do with BR, but I couldn`t find one that was better.

I`m planning to build a tactical style rifle in 300 WM and I`ve a box full of 7 RM brass. Can one of you reloading gurus please tell me the proper way to reform these?
Can I just run it through a FL die and then fireform?

I`m not 100% sure but I think they are the same but the neck on the 300 is much shorter. Could perhaps be a problem.

Rolf, you might consider a 30-338 Magnum, you can make the brass by necking up your 7mm Magnum brass with no further work.

Sounds like a winner. I guess you take ordinary 338 Win Mag brass and downsize them to cal. 30? Or open up the 7mm Rem Mag cases.
This calls for some serious consideration, if you get the same energy/speed plus the longer neck?

Rolf, yes, you can neck down the .338 Mag or neck up the 7 mm Mag, same result. This was a very highly favored case in 1000 yard prone shooting for many years and will still do well enough to win in good hands. The .308 Norma Magnum is very similar, I'm not too sure about reforming 7 mm Mag. brass for that, but there's no need since the 30-338 will accomplish what you want. Another bonus is that 30-338 dies are a common item with all the normal suppliers, not a custom item; same with reamers.
