6XC velocities you are getting?

What velocities are you getting from the 6XC.

Please specify barrel length and projectile (bullet) type/weight/name or it means nothing.

I prefer to keep them loaded on the lighter side for longer brass life.

The difference is simply that the 6.5X47L case will take more pressure. The 6XC case is tougher than the .243 case but it still has the big primer/flashhole which severely limits it pressure-wise.

A bunch of us (including Changeling) had huge arguments over this fact before the 6XC case went into production, again when the 6XC was developing and the 6.5X47L case was only a glimmer on the horizon and AGAIN when the 6.5X47L brass finally GOT HERE but before anybody had guns up and running. Now that the 6X47L is a reality I feel vindicated........... because it does EXACTLY what I predicted it would do, it makes a couple hundred fps more than the others, safely.

It's now all history instead of speculation.....



That said, the 6XC is still a fine case and Tubb deserves nothing but Kudo's for taking this bull by the horns back in the day and RASSLING it..... he's primarily responsible for there even being a 6XC. I've got representative samples of the 1st, 2nd and now 3rd gen 6XC brass but never bought into it because it's just not what I was looking for.

David still feels that the large primer is useful.

Rick, I've only gone through about 350 Berger 115's over the years, testing them first in a raft of .243AI's, then a boatload of 6BR's and now the 6X47L. ALL I'VE DONE with the 115's in this the new chambering is fire a few to confirm velocity and one into a snowbank so's I could look at it. (See recovered bullets thread)


I've never been happy with their accuracy but I keep trying, that BC figure is seductive

I haven't had opportunity to try Tubb's version. I will.
