6x50 and bibs machine barrel

Question for veteran shooters here...

I am looking at an old late 70's mid 80's BR rifle with a Bibs Machine barrel and a chambering of 6x50. anyone wanna take a guess or any one have any familiarity with that barrel making company (or smith) and maybe heard of or saw or even shot a 6x50? it is a 223 bolt face. May be a west/west central gun as it is in CO right now. So anyone who shot around FC out in CO may remember it....

Usual caveats apply...I know it will need a chamber cast, and I know it is moribund, etc. Just wondering what it might be based off?

it is a Superior (which i collect) glued into an early MacMillan or Six stock. i will likely buy it and turn it into a live varmint rifle, but am curious about 6x50.

Thanks in advance

Can't guarantee anything but I'll hazard a guess. There is a European cartridge 5.6x50 and also 5.6x50 rimmed. The case is the same diameter as a 223 and 222 Rem Mag, just a little longer. I have a 14" Contender barrel that I had rechambered from a 223 into a 5.6x50 AI rimmed. I have the same in an Encore carbine barrel and it has been my preferred deer killing machine for many years, something over 40 white tails. RWS did make the brass as well as Sellier & Beloit. In fact I once bought 10-15 boxes of S&B loaded ammo as brass is difficult to find. The S&B brass is not very good but OK for hunting rounds. The RWS is excellent. I traded for a couple hundred cases with a friend from the Netherlands. 6x50 would be an easy thing once you have the reamer.
