I've read a lot about the 6x47lapua shooting the 115s well but have not seen a lot of loads. What loads are you running? What kind of velocites are you obtaining? Are you es decent?

alright...
I shoot a 6x47L with a Pac-Nor 1.055 straight blank 1-7.5 twist on a savage 10 action that I bedded and put a SSS trigger on. My barrel has a round count at over 1800 rounds, first 1500 where 6mm Rem. then rechambered to 6x47L. I'm sure my barrel needs to retire and could shoot better with less rounds down the tube.
My loads are with the 115's:

40.5 gr of H4831 (go to load) Could still hold 1.5" at 400yds
41.0 gr of H4831 (little to warm)

shoot anything from 39.5 to 40.5 H4350 with the 105's.

I will have another bench rifle in this caliber (someday)!!!

There is also some load info on 6mmbr.com
Hope this info helps out...

What kind of velocites are you achieving?

I'm trying to figure out if the added bc of the 115s will outperform (drift less) compared to the speed of the 105/107s. Thanks for the help!:)

Only because no one can get them to shoot accurately. I've played with 115's since Berger came out with them back in the last century.....The sad thing is, I can run them up to very nearly the velocity of the 105-108's, VERY nearly, like within 20fps, or even equal...... I burnt out barrels looking for that ephemeral BC gain.

They don't shoot.

From all reports the accuracy of the DTacs is similar.

-H4350 powder
-Velocities in my 6X47L, 3200fps plus.... (Berger, not DTac)
-ES numbers, 10fps.

Bottom line, if the 115's SHOT WELL there would be no downside. The BC's are phenomenal, equal to 30's.

They don't shoot to the accuracy level required by benchrest. For many other shooting disciplines they're fine.

What Al said.

I've tried them in mid-sized wildcats (50 grain case) and could not get them to work. I know many other shooters who have had the same experiences. The only guy I've known who has success used them in a 6-06 and we all know how long the barrels will last with that cartridge.

There are others who have gotten them to work. I just sold my last bunch of them to a guy who really likes them. So they must work for him.

Tim B is one of the lucky guys. Too bad that barrels don't last forever.

I went back in my notes and found this file in Microsoft:

I’ve only recorded data with the 6x47 Lapua using H 4831sc and 115 D-Tacs.
My goal velocity is 3000 fps w/ 115 Dtacs. Here is what my rifle produced with each charge:
34.0gr = 2700 fps ES: 58 fps (10 shots of freshly formed brass)
34.0gr = 2699 fps ES: 27 fps (7 shots once fired, just re-necked, pretty accurate@300yds)

36.0gr = 2738 fps ES: 30 fps (5 shots fired, bullets were seated out .005 further)

38.5gr = 2850 fps ES: 7 fps (5 shots fired)-Very accurate @ 300yds,quarter size

39.0gr = 2895 fps ES: n/a (just one round fired)

After looking at the 36.0gr FPS, it doesn’t add up to why it is so low considering 34.0gr was basically the same. But, if my math and the way the velocity is working, each full grain of H4831 roughly equals 40 fps. So 40.5gr of 4831sc should give me 3010-3025fps

Hope this info helps u out...

Great info guys

The way it sounds, they might be worth a try. I've got the 107smk shooting great in my current barrel but I'm trying to plan ahead for the next barrel.

I would think with a 7.5tw and the tangent ogive, the dtacs would be easier to get to shoot.
