Got a new sale flier the other day and it had factory 6mm Remington in it available. One was limited edition 7600 pump with maple stocks and the other was the 700VLS.
That just figures; I allready filled my wife imposed 2 rifle quota for the year:(. I may have to sell a couple but how do you decide?

Ginner: To help speed up my search could I trouble you for the name of that supplier?
Thanks in advance

I have been holding my breath for this news........(well, sorta).

Really would like to know who has them, though.

Thanks,
Jim

Well.....

The limited edition is only 250 of the 7600 pump but the 700 VLS doesn't say anything about a limit so I guess it's a regular production deal. Since you guy's asked; Grice Gun Shop is the dealer in Clearfield, Pa. They are one of the largest wholesale dealers in the east. They special ordered the pumps but you really should contact your local dealer:D about the VLS so nobody gets mad at me for advertising because I have no affiliation with those guys.
I am gonna take some credit for the renewed interest, though. I managed to corner the owner and the Remington sales rep at the huge open house last year and, with the help of my father, put up a pretty convincing argument for the 6mm Rem.
Mr. Grice told the rep when he asked about what he knew of interest in the caliber and he said there is quite a bit actually but it seemed to be regional to the Appalachians. I asked him why the WSSM was being treated like they re-invented the wheel when it did nothing that the 6mm could not. It's no faster, doesn't feed as well, requires a special bolt face, limits magazine capacity, has a shorter neck, and is much harder on barrels. These are all traits that make the 6 a better small caliber hunting rifle and lets be honest, arms manufacturers make far more money on hunting rifles than bench guns because most hunting rifles shoot factory ammo. Most hunters own several rifles and far out number bench shooters.
No serious accuracy buff shoots factory anything.
WSSM should be more accurate but has not proven out. I never saw a 6mm Rem that wouldn't shoot. We have four and all shoot factory Core-lokt 100gr well under moa unmodified.
Sorry for the diatribe. I'll get down from my soapbox now.

Ammo

I have owned 3 Rem 700 VS 6mm Rem. All were shooters. However, I got into the Savage game because of the lack of available options from Remington for a replacement. The 700 VLS been the only rifle listed in the 6mm Rem for over 5 years (thats when I started looking last).

What they also need to step up and do is make some modern ammo for the 6mm Rem. Very briefly Remington sold 75 gr VMax 6mm Rem ammo that was a super coyote load and deadly accurate in my Shilen-barreled Savage. I reload all my own stuff and I have over 2,000 6mm Rem brass so I personally don't care if they do drop it. However, most hunters don't reload and if decent factory ammo isn't available then there is no use in selling the rifles. I know Hornady makes some 6mm Rem ammo but I have never used it. I have taken over a dozen whitetails with factory 100 gr Core-Lokt Remington ammo and was pleased with its performance. But that was 20 years ago.

For those of you that reload, I am getting some awesome performance from RE-17 with 95 and 100 gr bullets. I am taking 3200 fps with a 28" barrel and no pressure signs. That is a full 150 fps faster than I could achieve with IMR4350 (my all time favorite powder in the 6Rem). My limited testing is very good with the 6mm Rem and Re-17. I will start exploring RE-17 in my 6mm Rem AI once warner weather comes.

I just now spoke with whoever answered the phone at Grice Gunshop about the Rem. 700 VLS in 6mm Rem. THe guy told me that he didn't know how the info got into the flyer and that the info "has gotta be a misprint".:(

Saddened by the news........

Again, this is what got me started shooting Savages. I love the 6mm Rem caliber and it was about my only option to get short of a true custom. tiny
