so my bbl is in, and am begining to think about reamer choice.
the bbl is a 12 twist, will be a pd gun. no turn neck with hornady 58's.
will buy from ptg/dave kiff.
is there a better than basic reamer for this ??

what is your recommendations/experiences ?

thanks

If you're stuck on shooting that bullet, I'd go with zero or just a tad more of freebore. But, being a 12 twist, you'll be able to shoot bullets up to about 80 grains. For those, I'd go longer..about .080. The long neck is pretty forgiving to several bullet lengths with a given freebore. The 58s are short boogers. If it were mine, I'd set it up with .080. It'll work well with bullets down to about 62-68 grains and still work well for the 80 grainers. I'd jump the 58's if I had to, with that freebore and keep the versatility for just about everything else that you might want to shoot in that twist. JMHO though.

The numbers i ran on berger's calculator said i was pushing poor stability
with a 70 in a 12 twist.
Are they being too conservative?
The guys i shoot with all use the same bullet.....

There are a lot of people shooting the 80 grain Berger in a 1-12 twist and doing well. I have some of their old bullet pamphlets. Berger use to recommend a 12 twist or faster for this bullet. IME, they have always worked well.
