6BR questions...

I am in the process of gathering components for my first 6br, and was told by someone the other day that there was a couple variations to the cartridge. I think he mentioned a standard remington version and then a norma version. Is this so, and if so what are the differences between the two. I have been lucky enough to find a couple thousand primers some Varget and H322, and some 68gr bergers, but I wanted to make sure that I get the correct brass before buying any if there was a difference. Thanks in advance.
 
6BR Norma is what 99.9% of people are talking about when they say 6BR. The Lapua Brass is also 6BR Norma. I beleive the difference between 6BR Rem & 6BR Norma is the neck length.
 
And base diameter. The lapua brass is closer to .470 in dia Rem 6br is slightly smaller. Check to see what your chamber is cut to. Lapua would be to tight in a Rem.cut chamber. RANDY
 
Two 6mmBR's

As far as I know there are two versions of the 6mmBR.

The current one that factories are chambering is known as the 6mmBR Norma and Lapua cases are headstamped this way. It has a neck that is .322" long. As far as I know this is the "standard" 6mmBR chambering that all suppliers are providing brass for.

Remington came out with a 6mmBR that had the same body dimensions of the Norma cartridge, but a shorter neck. Strangely, their brass was made and sold with the long necks and had to be trimmed to length to shoot in these shorter chambers. Since then, I think everyone has gone to the 6mmBR Norma chamber dimensions, but you occassionally will run into a Thompson Center 6mmBR barrel or a gunsmith with an older reamer with the shorter neck.
