6BR Norma Vs 6BR Rem

Howdy,
I've got a new 40XBRKS in 6BR Rem. I was planning to use Lapua 6BR brass, but not sure if it will work w/o difficulty. I've told by one supplier not to, and another that it was interchangeable, but to watch neck chambers, etc. I am not a newbie to reloading, but a bit confused here. Do I use the Lapua and mike the neck or just order some Rem 6BR brass, even though I prefer the Lapua. Any help appreciated form those who have knowledge or experience. :)

6brnorma / 6br rem

Hello ringer,
I am not the 6br authority, so I'm hoping you get some other posts in here too.
I have a 6br custom 700 6brNORMA chamber, .262 neck. I use Lapua cases.
WHEN I began gathering info, people told me that : you can't use the LAPUA cases in the 6br REM chamber, but you can use the REM cases in the NORMA chamber, I think is the way of it.....AS IF the NORMA chamber & LAPUA cases are a shade larger near the base the the REM counterparts.
IF yours is not the 6brNorma chamber, but is the 6brREM chamber, I think you'll need to use REM cases.
Verify this with more people, or email one of the excellent gunsmiths on the advertiser's page on this site.
Sinclair is a good source of products, perhaps you already order a lot of stuff from them. You can call or email them for advice, too. They're solid.

6BR brass

Hi Steve,
I called Sinclair this aft'noon; was told that better to use the Rem brass. Would have gotten some, but they can't ship air since the brass is primed already. :( NW the necessary permit as well; ain't life grand.
I will have to look this side of the border for some. I like dealing w. Sinclair and some of the other US suppliers; gotten good service.

I might try to get a couple of Lapua cases to experiment as well. ( carefully, of course!)
Maybe hear from some of the other shooters w. 40X's too or 6BR Rem chambers, etc.

Thanks for the comments.:)

norma/rem 6BR things

Hi S,
good idea to nab a couple of LAPUA 6br cases if you can....then you can see if they fit your REM chamber.
GOOD idea to have sender FL size or body die size it down if they're fired cases, prior to sending to you.
I'd send you a couple but I only have ONE virgin case w/unturned neck, so I don't have any to spare. I keep it for measurements, etc.
Good luck,
Steve.

try russ haydon

He's listed on the home page, he usually will sell one to many pices of brass,if he has any lapua in stock,he may have some unprimed remington, and if he has any norma get a couple of those.I had a remington chamber 6br that would work fine with norma, and laupa would chamber, but was very tight.
