well i feel my 6ppc has been shooting well.
So i have been playing with my 6BR LV rifle some..it's a 21 3/4" barrel that is fluted..ha..lol
most of my 6BR barrels have been 24" or 26" with my favorite barrel being 24" with speeds in the 3,450 to 3,515 FPS range shooting the best.
well playing with some seating depth's and the powder i burn in the other's I found this barrel (21 3/4") seems to want to shoot at 3,250 to 3,325 FPS.
I think..I had three shot groups allmost in the same hole at 53 clicks of powder, touching, +.005 into the rifleing and .005 out of the rifeling.so three different seating depth's all shot about the same, only thing common was the 53 clicks and the velocity was about the same..I thought it was weird..when i went to 3,480FPS it did not like it and any where in between was not good, but the 53 click load at any seating depth was 3 shots in a hole..I said i have to load 5 and shoot that 53 and see what is up with that, well by the time i did the temp was up to 85 deg F and the RH had droped 15%, so the tune was kind of gone but it looks to me that the barrel wants to shoot this bullet at 3,300 FPS + or - @ 25.. have you ever seen that. three different seating depths shoot allmost the same groups.?.I'm going to leave my favorite powder for a slower one to get a better case fill and keep the velocity down..
