Does anyone have the confirmed dates for Oakridge? I seen the change on the schedule to the 28th and 29th. I'm assuming the 27th will be practice day and monday the 30th is a rain day make-up? Has anyone seen the 600yd shooter of the year rankings yet?

The 600 yd. Nationals will be in Oak Ridge Shooting June 26th, 27th & 28th. 8 target agg in each class.

Hi everybody. This is my first post - I figured it was about time to register as I've been reading this forum for several years.

My name is Larry Sparks and I am the rifle club president at the Oak Ridge Sportsmen's Association in Oak Ridge, TN. I guess it is official at this time that we will be hosting the 600yd IBS Nationals. I had proposed the fourth weekend in June for holding the match as that is the weekend that the range is reserved for IBS matches.

Officially, the match will be Thursday the 26th, Friday the 27th and Saturday the 28th. Sunday will be a make up day in case of rain. The range will be open for practice on Wednesday afternoon. We will shoot 3 targets for both HG and LG on Thursday and Friday and 2 targets for both on Saturday. This will allow for awards ceremonies on Saturday and a reasonable time for everyone to hit the road.

At this, Dave Tooley and I are organizing the event. Anyone who wants to volunteer to help will be welcome.

Hi Larry,

Any idea how much registration is going to be and how soon can we register?
A suggestion for those of you that are planning to attend, You better get a room now. There is a Little League championship that weekend and when i called 2 days ago, they were filling up. It's good to see the nationals closer to home. What i really like is that we will be done on Saturday and be able to spend Sunday with the Lord and family in that order.

Larry and I will get everything finalized in the next couple of weeks and get it posted here. It sounds like hotel reservations should be the first thing on everyones to do list.

Dave, Oak Ridge has used wooden benches in the past, and I am asking to see if the Nationals will be shot off these, or are concrete benches in the works?
I know the wooden ones work, as there have been a few records set there. I had heard there was an upgrade in the plans, and just thought I`d ask.

There are no plans to build permanent benches at this time at ORSA. The range is first and foremost a dedicated highpower and long range facility. It is considered by many as one of the finest privately owned highpwer range in the country. Since the NRA matches are shot prone at 600 yards there is no place to build the benches. Also, with firing lines at 800, 900, and 1000 yards, any permanent structures are subject to stray hits. I think the 800 yard line is lower than the 600 yard line and we would have to shoot through the benches. From all firing lines except the 1000 yard line you are shooting slightly up hill.

The benches are three layers of screwed and glued plywood with four metal pipe legs and are very stable as witnessed by past scores. We will have at least 20 shooting points for the Nationals.

As mentioned by Dave Tooley, we will have much more definitive information available in mid to late February.

It is true that hotels fill up very quickly in Oak Ridge and I would recommend making them as soon as possible. Local hotel info can be found at the ORSA website - http://orsa.nxs.net/ or our highpower site at http://orsahp.com/default.aspx
