how would you explain that the 6 mm dasher seems to lead the pack in 1000 yd bench rest shooting in the light class over the magnums?you would think that the heavyer bullets would have the edge.

It is probably for the same reasons that the .308 is no longer competitive in short range benchrest, primarily the recoil to rifle weight ratio. It is not just a matter of what the shooter can handle, but how the system performs, and having a rifle jump around too much is not good for accuracy. Of course this is just one opinion.
