Got a 6.8 SPC that's turned out to be a real shooter. What's your thoughts on a 6.8 BR? Ream the pilot hole out in a 6BR body and bushing die and I'de be all set. Making cases might be a pain? Start with new Lapua 6BR brass. What do I need to expand the necks to .277?

I'm curious what distance you propose to use the 6.8 BR for and what bullets you'd use.

A 6.8mm BR should have about 39 grains case capacity compared to 34 for the 6.8 SPC. The 6mmBR is 37.8 grains and the 7mmBR is 39.5 grains.
What's your reason not to just shoot the 6.8 SPC if it's as accurate as you say?
Do you think the gap between the 6.5mmBR and the 7mmBR needs to be filled?

Those who neck up large amounts like 221 Fireball to 300 whisper usually use two tapered expanders and anneal in between steps. More often 300 Whisper is made by necking down cut-off 223. No doubt 6mmBR to 6.8mmBR could be done in one step with good brass. Or neck down 7mmBR to 6.8 which is a much smaller step. Since it's a wildcat you get to choose the final dimensions.

Is it worth designing a new case and having custom dies, reamers, and barrel made? -That's your choice. Certainly it can be done.

No "real" reason. Just thought it would be cool to have. Never heard of anyone building a 6.8 BR. Not for compitition, just a little "different" shooter. And I'am thinking it will be used in a bolt action pistol.
Neck up "new" 6BR Lapua brass so it would be pretty soft to work with. That would give you a dummy round to cut a reamer to. Ream out the pilot hole (neck) of a 6BR body die to fit the .277 as well as a bushing die, change the bushings to the size you need and you'de be set.
And I've never seen "factory" 7BR brass so I'am thinking start with 6 BR Lapua.
I'am working with 90, 100 and 110 grain bullets and so far I've got about 5 to choose from.
It's still in the "thinking" stage but it sounds like a fun project. Got a better idea on which way to go? I'am wide open to suggestions.
