Hello Guys, Would you Gentlemen care to share with me your experience and suggestions on the above mentioned round concerning barrel length, powder, and 140 class bullets,Any info will appreciated.

I shoot this round in my Silhouette rifle. For the Rams I use 142gr SMK or 139gr Scenars. My barrel is a 25" Kreiger with a 1:8 twist. Using 39gr of H4350 with the 142's I am getting around 2650 fps. Shooting silhouette I do not push them as hard as benchrest shooters do. My main concern is accuracy and not having the bullet explode on the face of the Ram and not knock it over. So it is a balancing act for me. But 39gr of 4350 suits me well. Limited info I know but its all I have. I shoot 107gr or 123gr SMK for the 3 closer animals using 32gr of Varget which is a minimal load. Again just looking to stay accurate at distance and reduce recoil when not required while maintaining bullet impact.

Good luck..

Bo

Bo, I appreciate your response I look forward to building this rifle.

Call Dave Kiff at PTG

He will give you the right chamber info for any bullet you are going to shoot. Assuming you buy the reamer from him, I guess.

At what ranges (distance) will you be shooting? Barrel length is important, depending.

For instance, I have a .123 in. freebore chamber (PTG reamer) in my 6.5x47 Krieger and am limited to 120 to 130 gr. bullets. Dave will tell you what you need for the 140 or 142 gr. bullets.

Keep us informed on your progress. There is a lot of great help here.

Roy
