I've got a CMP 52D that I want to set-up for a Bench Gun. I just had it crowned and reblued and am waiting for a Don Stithe 250 Stock. I was gonna use a Viani mount for my (Japanese) Tasco 36X Scope but will likely save the mount for an off-hand gun and go with something more "rigid" for a mount.
I was reading my Precision Shooting mag about applying a one-piece base with Loctite 609 - it sounds like a very nice "stress free" and solid set-up. I'm leaning that way unless I hear otherwise.
I resigned myself to go ahead and drill/tap the rifle in the interest of solid mounting the scope and stiffening the action.
What is a good Base/Rings set-up for a Bench 52? Should I lean towards windage adjustable rings?
Thanks,
Dave
