Sorry of this is the wrong catagory, I didn't know where else to post.

Are there any good .45 bullets out there currently for shooting 100y (prone competition). I'm just looking into a larger caliber for fun and score shooting, but I can't think of any large bore bullets such as .40 or .45 at these distances.

Howdy !

I don't kno if they provide them as reloading components yet...
but Hornady's new "Leverrevolution " .45 cal soft-tipped spire
might warrant a look.

In .44 cal, Hornady's 265gr Spire is remarkably accurate.

You could shoot cast of swaged, then.... if you shoot poorly, no-body is suprised. If youshot well , THEN you really accomplished something..
Cast bullet use is not a death sentence on accuracy.

There are some super-custom swaged lead .45s youcan buy, for use
w/ black powder sabots ( shoot .45 cal from a .50 cal rifle ).
I forget the website, but you can research.

I shot .358" out to 300yd, in a full-up BR rifle; for the same score shooting reasons you site. It was a .357Auto-Mag carbine ( 22" ), and it shot just stupid accurate w/ (of all things ) plain-Jane Rem 150gr PSPs !?!?!?!
I have a one-hole 1ooyd group to prove it, and a 3-shot 5/8" group @ 300.

Best of luck in your endeavors.

Regards,
.357Mag
