40X trigger assembly

What's the easiest way to assemble a factory trigger (with safety and bolt release) onto a factory receiver? i finally got the job done, but I wished I had a third hand. The version I'm using is the one with a two piece sear and that was my headache; trying to put the pin and at the same time keep the little spring from falling out. I resorted to putting a little dab of grease on the end of the spring to help hold it in the hole, but lining up the two sear parts wasn't easy.

Second question, I have another factory trigger that I tried to use but wouldn't go because the aforementioned spring would not go deep enough in the hole, if it even went in at all. This version trigger has exposed and raised rivets holding the body halves together. The first trigger above has the rivets flush and peened. Do the different versions of these triggers use different ancillary parts, like the spring that pushes against the sear? I think I may need a narrower spring for this one.

Go to Ace Hardware and buy a piece of their 1/8" drill rod. 12" is more than enough. Make yourself at least two slave pins (the same length as the trigger housing is wide) and at least two long pins about 2" long. Round the ends a little so they'll go thru the holes easily. You'll figure out how to use them.

You are using some sort of punch or drift to knock out the pins. Use this punch as your slave pin. Push it through from the LH side of the rec.
 
Use 1/8 inch brass rod to make slave pins the same width as the trigger housing... It is easier to make than steel ones are...
 
I found those bamboo satay sticks works fine - even some round toothpicks - cut to size. Cheaper than rod & you have a use for the others maybe.
 
Slave pins! man, sometimes the simpliest things are the hardest to recognize. I can picture it now, I can hold the sear in place with the front slave and pre-load the spring with the rear slave, trigger should just drop in. Thanks a bunch fellas, Douglas
