40x Rimfire barrel removal

Wellz, I got myself a bit of a pickle.

It's a 40X rimfire and the stick doesn't want to come off. I've tried Kroil, Heat, 50/50 AFT/acetone, and this bugger is still stuck.

I'm determined NOT to have to chop off the tennon and machine it out of the receiver just on principle.

Any ideas? I've not fuggered with one of these actions before.

Thanks guys.

It takes a substantial barrel vice and action wrench to get one of them loose. The last one I took off a month or so back was as tough as all the rest have been. It took a cheater bar on an 18" action wrench to break it loose . The problem is the thread sealant they used on the threads to keep blueing salts from getting between the barrel threads and the receiver. The stuff sets up over the years and just glues the joint together. They blued the barreled actions as an assembly from what I have been told, hence the sealant in the joint.
I use a Wheeler wrench that encircles the receiver ring and has a cutout to grab the recoil lug, and then a 1/4X20 bolt goes through it into the front guard screw hole.
It just takes a strong barrel vice and bushing to hold the darned barrel without slipping. I put the barrel vice as close to the receiver as possible too. I've removed several of them and so far it's worked without having used solvent or heat. The sealant in the joint probably keeps the solvent from soaking in.
Best of luck with it.

I run into this often, the other responses are exelent advice, I use a narrow parting tool to cut just ahead of the recoil lug. Doing this allows the use of the barrel with a heavier recoil lug.
