40x Receiver Q

crb

Ray Brooks
I have a 40x receiver that I bought bare. I recently discovered something strange about the machining on this rec. The cutout for the bolt lock tab is missing. The cut for the trigger is just the width of the trigger housing. Is this common ?

Thanks

Hard to tell from the pic exactly what you have but the slot for what I think you are calling the Bolt lock tab is there - You are just missing some parts. As far as the trigger it just slides in the slot and is held in by 2 pins. These pins also hold in the bolt retainer, spring etc.
Hope this makes a little sense?
Go to team40x and download the various Manuals.. You might have to look through all of them to see what you are missing. http://team40x.com
The Links page has the downloads.

Looks like it supposed to to me? As Doug said, the slot for the bolt release is the narrow slot on the side and of course the one in the center is for the trigger to fit into, but of course you know that. Looks like you need a bolt release and the spring, and a trigger, to get it going.

I checked one of my CMP actions and the trigger slot cut is different. Looks like there is a wider short opening on the right side probably to allow the safety lever to clear. Definitely different from yours.

Dave,
That is the cut that my other 2 Rems have. One is an early 722 based 40x rimfire and the other is a later 40x centerfire.

I don't guess anybody has ever seen the cut like the one in my picture.
