40X and the Jewell trigger

I did do some searching on this before I post this question but no luck. So if anyone has the link to it on this forum or an answer that would help. I'm on the CMP list for the 40X and want to replace the trigger once I get it in my hands. Does BR 50 require a top safety on the trigger? I see two listings through MidWay USA for one (Jewell) with a 1 1/2oz-3oz and a top safety one with a 1 1/2oz-3 1/2 lb. What is normal for a benchrest trigger. I know one of the guys at my gun club on his custom. Well I swear you could blow on it and it would fire. Jeff

IR5050 does not require a safety at all on the 10.5 class and 13.5 class and Unlimited rifles. However they do require saftey for the sporter class, why I dunno? We shoot them as single shots too.

Jeff,
ARA only requires that the bolt be removed or chamber flag inserted at cease fire and bolts removed or flags be present until commence fire is given. A Jewell trigger would make your gun better for bench shooting but not so much for anything else.

Wisconsin, you DO NOT want to buy any of those jewell triggers from midway. none of those triggers have a bolt release. killough shooting sport has the right one.

+1 on KSS, they are one of our sponsors, best price and quick shipping. Regards

Charles, thanks for the reminder. with the release of a 1,000 cmp 40x's if anyone wishes to upgrade to a jewell better do so soon as these rifles will start shipping this week. and the jewell trigger is probably the single best upgrade for consistant accuracy.

Looks like this one does.

Bolt release

You can purchase a bolt release from Charlie Scott for about 15.00$, Ive done two one for a 40x rimfire and one for a 40 x 222. Mine worked well.
