Need new barrel = ordering a Shilen stainless Contour #10 for a 40X what twist should I ask for?

I had the barrel scoped and that was the finding. I guess if it is shooting a nickel size, and want to shoot a dime, it might be the answer.

A friend bought an older 721/722 ( I don't know which is the short action of that era) that had a heavy barrel in 222. He has been shooting it for years. He told me if he added up all the 8lb jugs of powder it had to have over 15 thousand shoots through it and still shot real good. I am sure it has been set back. The original owner put it together with out a recoil lug but some where along the way decided it needed some thing so he drove a horse shoe nail behind the tang. They called it the " ugly gun ". And it was!!!!

Yes you can wear them out I have It takes a while though
If you start out with a 26 inch heavy barrel you can set it back several times to freshen the throat.
Like all barrels they start loosing accuracy after a few thousand rounds .
Once in a great while one last,s quite a bit longer before losing accuracy
