Maybe someone here can answer this question. Is the 40 X Remington action footprint the same as a standard Remington short action? I would think it would be the same but I am not sure.

Hmm, yes and no.
The bolt handle relief cut and (I think) the safety cut are slightly different depending on whether you have a 40X or 40XB.
