Asking this someone else and I can't find the answer.

What are the similarities and differences between a 30BR and a 308x1.5 Barnes?

thanks for a history lesson, tiny

Load from a Disc software

Has this and other short 30 caliber case drawings in their database...You can compare for youself...but the 308x1.5 was primarily for cast bullet shooting..it has less internal capacity than the 30BR..which is better for the fast powders in small dosage for the cast bullet benchrest shooters...AND With the 30BR you dont have to go to all the hassel of making brass from .308cases..;)

30br vs 308x 1.5

History lesson on this. first the 8mm short Kurz designed by the Germans for a sub machine gun. Take home by the boys and the Russians were impressed by it. they made the 762x39. In the us wildcatters tried to shorten the 30 cal case to 1.5 inches 308x1.5 then a little longer to 1 3/4 to get velocity.
The write up in barns book said it would most likely be a good benchrest case. That was the problem Cases. Now we have the new lapua BR brass that makes this possible. The 30 BR sure is one fine case with long barrel life. I played with a case just between the 2 at 40mm in length. I had a great time playing and i do believe several other shooters like speedy did also.
It's pretty much worked out. the 30 BR with good bullets and the right twist in a quality barrel is really accurate. Best part is barrel life.
I'm sure if you build one you will really enjoy it. It's a tad more recoil but not really all that bad off the bench. I saw a test target the other day in the low ones . great case so far.
