30BR rail gun

Does anyone, or can you shoot a 30BR on a rail gun? I didnt know if there was to much recoil from the 30BR for a rail gun set up? Just curious. Lee

Here in the west I have one as does Don Neilson. I'm sure there are others, I don't know.
No, the recoil is not an issue. I've had (4) 30 cal rail gun barrels with the 30 BR being the smallest.

Skeet,

What form of BR would you be competing in with a .30 BR Railgun? Group, Score?

Im not. I was just curious thats all! If i ever buy a rail gun i would probably have a 30BR barrel for it, as the 30BR is probably my favorite chambering. Lee

Skeet what I was getting at is that the .30 BR as accurate as it is, it is predominantly a "score" caliber. Equally a Rail is of little use in score, even non registered club matches you are at a disadvantage to use a rail, if even allowed. The only place you would use a rail is in a group tournament where the .30 BR is not the "go to" chambering.

thanks for the info. To be honest the real reason i asked about this is because i am thinking real hard about doing a 30x47L for groundhog shoots but i have also kicked the idea around of just doing another 30BR and keeping my life a bit more simple. I have a Brux 1.250 17twist barrel that i will be using for one of these chamberings. I am always thinking and i had the thought that if i stay with the 30BR i could always use the barrel on a rail gun that i am saving my pennies for, but i didn't know if a rail would take that kind of recoil. I just didnt know! I always feel better about spending money if i can have multipurpose uses for whatever i am buying or doing. In this case, i could use the 30Br barrel for the two groundhog shoots we have each year and i could use the same barrel on a rail gun once i have one. Basically just thinking out loud again. I have a strong feeling that i am going to do the 30x47L anyway so this is a non issue. However if i were to have a big old 1.250 30BR i sure wouldnt be afraid to shoot it on a rail gun event if it was shooting well. My current best agging rifle is a 30BR. maybe that's because i spend more time with the 30's than anything else? I do have a new Leonard/ Dave Bruno 6ppc that i have very high hopes for, so this statement may not hold true for very much longer. i have had time to go shoot the rifle yet so i cant say. I do like those 30's!!!!!!! Lee
