I'm planning on ordering a reamer for this new barrel with a .335 neck and .123 freebore. I will be shooting 168 to 190 grain VLD bullets until I decide on a specific bullet.

This will be at 600 and 1000 yards. when a 1000 yard range is built down here. So. Louisiana.

Any comments. A good idea or a bad one. If bad, what?

Thanks

Roy

This is WAAAYY to much free-bore! Well, unless you're planning on using 200+ Gr. bullets . . . For the 155 Gr. Talk to Dave Kiff about a Larry Cribbs version of the Obermeyer .308 Match reamer - with bullets in the 155Gr. range (about right for 600 Yd. work, vis this case), that will work extremely well. For all but the 200+ GR. bullets, the 10" twist rate is much faster than needed, but should work ok. RG

Thanks for the reply Randy. I had almost given up on replies and was ready to delete the post and repost differently, when I saw your post.

It is a PTG reamer. I told Dave I was going to shoot 168 gr. to 190 gr. VLD's and that is what he recommended. This is his 308 Match reamer with the above mentioned neck and freebore.

You say that the .123 FB is too much? Can you explain why? Me and freebore don't get along. I've also been thinking about heavier bullets,
so when I ordered the barrel I specificed the 10 twist, just in case.

Waiting on your reply. And again, thanks for the reply.

Well, it appears that I'm incorrect regarding, "WAAYY to long" - the SHORT neck (.308 W.) didn't cross my mind. I'd go with Mr. Salazar's recommendation - I sure cannot argue with the [bullet-base] 'positioning' for these bullets . . . RG
