Need some help from someone who has a book on calculating weight of 303 stainless. Approx how much length will I need on a tube of 303 that has an id of 1.180 and an od of 1.5. in order that it weighs 3.8 oz Thanks Bro.D
You are looking at about .289 pounds per cubic inch. You can calculate the weight by 3.1415927 X radius squared X length X .289. You must do this to calculate the area of both diameters, then subtract the smaller diameter from the larger. Then 3.8 oz is .2375 pounds so you can take the weight of 1" of tube and divide it into .2375 pounds.
