I'm thinking of building a 300 WSM for long range varmint hunting. I would be using 110 and 125 grain bullets. My question is should I go with a short throat reamer so I could get the bullets seated closer to the lands or just go with the standard reamer? And what twist? Or is there a better cal. I'm thinking I could get a 110 gr. V-Max up around 3600fps. I would appreciate any advice.
Thanks......Mike

Short throated 300wsm

kIFF will cut any throat you specify. I have some reamers made with no throat and use a throating reamer o cut the desired throat after the chamber is done. If you go this route just be carefull the throating reamers cut rifling like a hot knife in warm butter.

throat reamers

I agree ,
throat reamers take a very careful feel to make sure you only go as far as you want to .It is very easy to go too far .

Be very careful when using ,it takes some practise to get the feel.
