Does anybody have any suggestions as to lessin the recoil on a 300 win mag with a synthetic stock?

Thats not quite what i had in mind. How is the 30 BR compared to the 300 mag?

It's like comparing a cessna to a 747.

Newtons laws, to reduce recoil, try reducing the weight of what your sending out the barrel. i.e., reduce the bullet weight and powder charge.

Or, increase the weight of your rifle, ideally, with a heavier barrel, or weighting up the stock.

A decellerator recoil pad can help too.

the 30 BR comment was meant as a joke.

I was shooting 180 gr. factory loads. I have loaded some 168 gr. boat tail match kings. And some 150 gr. soft points. The gun has a heavy barrel and synthetic stock it weighs 7.25 lbs factory. I put lead weights and sand in the stock. I think its around 16 lbs now. I am taking it out this weekend to try the the loads i worked up as well as the weight adition. I am new the long range shooting as well as magnum calibers. Mybe ill catch the joke next time. LOL

You can also wear a recoil pad on your shoulder. Past makes them. I think the one I have is thier magnum model. Midway probably stocks them.

Holy moly! Your almost into heavy gun class.

If it's still hurting you, you need to get a different rifle. I never recommend a muzzle brake, for personal preference, i hate the noise, and other people at the range blasting me off the bench beside them.

My 300 Win. Mag. felt like a .223....

Had a F Class M700 sleeved action built by Richard Beginski (Edmonds, Wa. vicinity), had a detachable brake that really worked. Not kidding, I let others shoot it and they commented, almost no recoil. Believe rifle had a Decelerator pad as well, about 15 lbs.........r in s.

You can also add a Mercury Recoil Reducer also to the stock. I think Sinclair or Brownell's has them. I know of a few guys who shoot prone and F-class that have them.

Reducing Recoil

From your handle I suspect you are shooting a Savage , maybe a 110 tactical in 300win. If so I have one and love it. I took the stock apart, ruffed it up, filled the front full of devcon and fiberglass cloth, emptyd the rear, did the same with an addition of lead shot. They lead in the rear in a NRA Highpower trick. You can pour the rear with cavities to put lead bars in or take them out depending on need. Also I added steel pillars to the action. I've spoke with others who have added stainless rods to their stocks for stiffness. I started to put an Answer Product brake on it but some matches will not allow brakes. I have an Answer brake on the 300 RUM and it works like they promise.
Any way I hope this helps.

Yes its a 110 FP tactical. I filled the stock with sand and lead catfish weights. Stock it weighed 7.25 lbs. Now it weighs 14.6 lbs. I also added 2 inches of foam to the butt plus a slip on limb saver recoil pad over that. Was it hard for you to get a hold of your 110 fp? I had 9 gun shops looking for them and one finally found the rifle after about 4 weeks. I have a tasco 6-24x42 target varmint scope on it. I hope it holds up to the recoil!!!!

Mule has been tamed!!!

The extra pads and weight helped a million. Its like shooting a .308 now. But the scope "Tasco Target/Varmint" will not hold up to the stress of the 300. Thanks for the input and advice.
