300 saum to 300 wsm ?

While i have a win in 300 WSM, i really want a rem 700 in 300 wsm.

Looking at the chamber drawings and bolt faces, it would appear to be a

pretty simple change..with a good bbl just ream from saum to wsm.

Am i missing something ??
 
Why? Is it a short action. If so you will not be able to use the longer case and seat your bullet out.
The SAUM is a great cartridge.
 
The max length of the 300 SAUM is 2.825( like a 308 win that is 2.800+.030).
The max length of the 300 WSM is 2.860. that is a .035 diff. Not talking long range
bench guns but hunting type rifle.

it is a non-issue as of today. Remington now produces a 700 in 300 WSM!
 
Remington's WSM is a long action. I believe if you measure the case lengths you will find a great disparity in length. If it is a hunting rifle, I sure wouldn't go to the trouble or expense to make the change.
 
MAYBE REMINGTON SAW THE HAND WRITING ON THE WALL.
Use a long action and be able to load longer than spec.
Wonder where their throat is ??
