.300 Rum?

I have been considering building a .300 Dakota for a 1000 yard BR rifle. I am having second thoughts due to case availability. Does anyone have any pros or cons to using the .300 Ultra Mag for this application? I plan to build this rifle as a heavy rifle.

Does anyone make brass for the RUM besides Remington? If not, quality Remington brass is hard to come by.
300 Weatherby, 308 Baer come to mind as alternatives to the RUM.
 
Nosler makes 300RUM brass,though hard to find at times.Ive been toying with the idea of a 7mm saum or wsm for 1000 yd.The RUM is way more gun than Id want but thats just me.

Id scrap the RUM and build a 300 lapua wildcat probably .200 short AI.
