Charlie Clark ran away from all the others at South Creek shooting a .2211 aggregate in group and a 250-16X in score--he won both hands down.

George Jacobus finsihed 2nd in group with his 30 BR with a .29xx and Dave Conklin was 3 rd with his 30 BR with a .31xx

Jim,

Do you know what his load was? I'm curious what powder shoots in a 30 BR in the cold.

If I were younger I would build me a little 30 BR deer rifle, probably on a Ruger No. 1, specifically for the woods hunting we do here in Michigan. Most deer are shot at an average of 50 to 60 yds. and a super accurate 30 BR would seem to be perfect.

Thanks,

Perfect time for a bit of a plug

was that a combined score and group , How do they do that ?

I think it says about halfway down Group first then they shoot score.

Charlie is using 115 grain Eubers with .925 jacket; 34 grains H4198 and a hart 1 in 18 1/2 inch barrel on a Rimrock BR Rifle. Shoots well in cold as long as you use the bullets made on .925 jackets

Jim,

Thank you. I've not used H4198 simply because I don't have any. It makes more sense than most of our other powders for a 30 BR. I'll have to buy some.

Thanks again.

H4198 won't work for you Dick, there's too much of it! You need to find some powder that hasn't been made in twenty years or so and try that, it's a sure thing to work better for you. When you find it be sure to buy at least 100 pounds for yourself before reporting the results.
