I know that these where very popular ( Army Marksmanship Unit)for years , then most went to the 300 Win Mag . I think that transition was because the Marines kept beating them ...lol .
Anyway mine is set up in a Savage Striker Pistol ..with 180 gr SMK's so far ,its been a Hoot and accurate ...
thanks

While not the 30/338 per se., a number of people are shooting the .308 Norma mag, or the .30 BooBoo & its variants, sort of the same thing on a beltless case. In fact, I'm one of them.
I shoot a .30-338 and use .308 Norma brass in it. The Norma brass seems to be very consistent, and life is long. It's pretty simple to size it in a .30-338 die and then trim it to length. Doing so eliminates the case stretching so common with the belted cases.
I looked long and hard at that cartridge for a rifle build over this past Winter. I wound up going with a 7mm. Remington Magnum instead. They both offered the cartridge length to work well in a factory magazine in a hunting rifle while still having some freedom in bullet seating length. I didn't go with the 30-338 simply because of reduced recoil in the 7RM and the fact that I already had dies for the it. I may do one yet though.
