Thinking about getting a 30-30. Who makes a quality rifle in this caliber?

Personally, I liked the Marlin 336 since it has a solid receiver top allowing the mounting of a scope.
The more common 1894 Winchester has an open ejection port on top and needs a side mount for a scope.
A bolt action in .308 is a superior rifle in nearly all respects and probably prompted the othe comment.
What type of shooting are you interested in?

Thanks for the info the 336 is one I was looking at. Was also considering the Winchester.
This is for deer in brush country.This is for fun. I have a 308 and a 45-70.
