Using the middle load of the previous load development and the only variable being seating depth. Contact would appear to be 3.050, .045 barely shows, and .055 engraves. The following 25 rounds were fired this morning in these conditions; temperature 65 to 75 F (during these strings), humidity 8%, barometer 29.86, elevation 3340 ASL.
Rifle is a Remington VSSF 26", .308 Win. Scope is Leupold LRT 8.5 x 25 fine duplex, shot at 25 power. Stock (adjusted) trigger.
15 fouler/sighters were fired until the rifle and the shooter settled down. This zero was obtained at 300 yards, and only one click left was added for wind after the first five seen here. The rounds were fired in the order shown. (3.015 - 3.055)
Lapua brass, Fed 210 M - 42.3 grains of IMR 4064 COL = 3.015"
group is 1.716" x 1.578" with no allowance for bullet diameters.
Left group is 3.025 COL, Right is 3.035 COL
Left 1.630" x 2.751" Right 1.505" x 3.414" no allowance.
Left group is 3.045 COL Right is 3.055 COL
Left 1.816" x 1.068" Right 1.911" x 1.657" no alowance
OKAY, so help out here, what do I do with the remaining bullets?
Thinking of shooting 3.050 COL" at 500 meters, my longest available range if the wind will cooperate. Appreciate the feedback.
Thanks for looking.
