2nd Annual Briar Hail Memorial Match Recap

25 Benchrest Group shooters arrived at the immaculate grounds of the Shelby County Deer Hunter Association to participate in the
2nd Annual Briar Hail Memorial Benchrest Group match this past weekend. Briar Hail was great friend to many of the shooter’s who attended this match over the years, as well as building a number of very fine rifles for many BR shooters around the US and also around the world! We all love and miss Briar’s presence and great sense humor at the Shelby County and Eastern Region matches!

We were very fortunate to also have 2 new shooters attend our match. Harlan Terry and Tillman Hay both made very respectable showings in their first match. Kudo’s to Jerry Jarret for inviting and assisting Tillman in attending his first BR Group match with us! (We all need to follow Jerry’s lead and bring a new shooter to a BR match!)

We were greeted with some very nice weather on Saturday with very mild, but deceptively hard to recognize reversing conditions for the LV100 aggregate. Dominic Grunas led the way to a 1st place finish with a very solid .2118” agg. Here’s the top 5 finishes in the LV100 agg.

Congrats to all the winners! Great to see some new shooters at this match! A special thanks to John Petteruti for organizing this match, and also to our Range Director’s Jerry Seitz and Jerry Stewart. Larry Webb and Sandy Chitwood for their numerous contributions, including stat scoring and serving some great meals! Also would like to thank the local Boy Scout troop who worked to change each our many targets all weekend long.

Please join us again for our next Shelby County match on October 27th and 28th. I can promise you’ll have a great time!

Would ask everyone to please keep Briar Hail and family in all your daily thoughts and prayers!
