My broughton barrel will shoot the .284 caliber. I was shooting a rem 7mm mag. I am considering having it chamberd to the .284 winchester. Some of my friends are telling me that this would be better. They say that I would have more of a variety to choose from. mainly brass. (if necking up the 6.5x 284) and primers. (since large rifle mag is hard to come by) They say that this chambering is just as good as the 7mm. I was wondering if I would be loosing anything when it comes to long range accuracy and stabability.

Any opinions or suggestions welcome Thank you

The .284 Winchester and .284 Shehane have been doing very well in F-Class with UK shooter Grant Taylor finishing 3rd in the FCWC shooting the .284 Shehane while Charles Ballard just took his second straight US F-Class Open Class championship with the straight .284 Winchester. Jim Hardy has posted lots of load data here and on 6mmbr.com.
