.284 WINCHESTER - muzzle velocity

Please let me know,from your experience,what is about normal and maximum muzzle velocity for this catridge without the case showing overpressure signs. Barrel length would be 26inches. Bullet weight 180gr.
Please ,mention powder used.Thanks in advance for your info.

This post being in the F-Class Forum I would assume this rifle would be intended to be shot in F-class matches. If so I woul recomend a 30" or longer barrel for shooting the 180 bullet. You need to acheive 2950-3000 fps to get your moneys worth out of the .284. I would use H4831SC, H4350, VV160 powders. 6.5 Lapua brass. necked up and sized back to 7mm. There is lots of information on this site and others about the .284. Throat your barrel so the bullet boattail/bearing surface juncture can be seat out to the shoulder/neck juncture of the case this will be to long for the loaded case to fit into a short action magazine.
