I recently had a semi-custom rifle built it’s a savage 12 precision action with a 29’ hand lapped shilen barrel chamber in a 260 rem 1-8 twist with a savage F class laminate stock topped with a nightforce BR 12-42. I would like to start shoot 600-1000 yard competition. just started working on some loads with 4831sc and H1000. anyone shoot a 260 and have loads to share these powders

Loads for 260

You might try H4350 N-160 both have proved to be good powders for the 260 with bullets in the 139-142 range.

I shot H4350 in my .260 last season (600 yards). This winter I have been trying RL-17. Because of snow we can only shoot 200 yards till the thaw. I have settled on 1 grain more than what Alliant recommends for the .260 shooting a 140 grain bullet (check their web site). I use the SMK 142 HPBT. The RL-17 chronoed at 2935 average with an ES of 8 from a 5 shot test. It was a calm, cold (26 deg) day. Based on this, I will use the above RL-17 this coming season.

My barrel is a 30", 8.5 twist.

RL17 will get you the most velocity with 139-142 bullets. I know shooters who achieved between 3000-3050 with RL17 in a Standard 260 with no pressure signs. BBLS were 28" if I remember correctly. DON"T quote me, but if I remember correctly, they were using approx. 45 grains of RL17. I need to ask if they were mag. length or loaded to an OAL beyond 2.8"
