Do you still see these on the line? If so; which guns? Does Wally still bump them up? What is it worth? Wouldn't a nice 36x Leu. be better?

I think you are answering your own question.

You do not see very many scopes under 35x on the line at short range BR shoots anymore.

As to monetary value thats difficult unless you know what at least two have sold for recently.

I have one I carry for a back-up. It is very accurate and on days when the mirage is really bad it is often tempting to put it on. I just usually have enough problems without trying to sight in a new scope in the middle of a match, but I could if I absolutely had too!!!!

Lyman 25 LWBR

I'm usually reluctant to reply to posts but your's tempts me. I have six old Lymans two of which are the 25's--both bumped by Wally to 32 and 40 respectively. They are very good, clear, scopes with excellent resolution. The 40X is a little dark on dark days. In fact, Wally has it right now to be debumped to 36 or so.

One reason you don't see these anymore is that they haven't been made for years. One of my best ones is one of the 20x's with the latest turrets(tall) that he bumped to 30X. It has a 1/16th dot which I like. Many young shooters today have never seen one. They are well made and mine hold their POI very well.

To answer one of your questions--yes, a good Leupold 36x would be better; at least probably brighter. Probably lighter.

I use my Lymans for a spare and have needed for such.

My opinion is worth about what you pay for it--I don't win much.

Thank you R.B. I too have a 20x which sits on an early Jaeger custom .244. Looks good and shoots great.

R.B.Carl, do you have a current number for Mr. Seibert? I have been given a number for him but all I ever get is a recording to leave my number. Is there a preferred time to call him? I want to send him a 2" Unertl to have the dot reticle changed to a crosshair as my eyes have gotten so bad that I have trouble picking up the dot. What does he charge for increasing the power, or is this based on the amount of increase? I also have a Lyman All-American in 20X that has a dot reticle, same problem. Wonder if he can work on these scopes also.

Thanks.

Have to apologise for that 'recording bit' on my phone. You see I only just lately came out of the cave and got one of those fancy cable connections with phone and high speed internet too. Trouble is nobody explained to me that now I also have a voice mail box,and there are probably lots of messages in that box that I have not seen yet:eek:
Why have I not seen them?Well until I received the instruction book from the provider today I didn't know how to set up the voice mail.I will promise to do so promptly and then things like this will hopefully not happen again?
Of course my email address does not have that problem and I can truly say that I have answered every message that was ever sent my way, unless it was spam or seen as such.
As for your Unertl,Yes I can change the reticles and also do a power conversion.
Send me an email (hwsieb@yahoo.com) and I will send you my price list.
Wally
