I'm happy to announce that we have a concrete floor and roof over our shooting line now for bench rest. Come on over and try it out!

There will also be a fun bench rest shoot (12 noon), at 50 yards, after the 25 meter qualifying match at 10 am. The Memorial Weekend will have a Western Regional Field Target contest going on as well... so join in that fun too! email me for info on that event... wayne.burns@naturalyards.com

BENCH REST REPORT - Sunday May 22nd. 2011
Here is the report for our first Bench Rest match.

The concrete table tops we just poured on Friday, were not quite dry, so we shot off the wood tables one last time… and I'm sure our scores will be better this coming weekend on the new concrete tables. The wind was mild 7 to 10 mph, but it was switching from northeast to south – south west.. with some deceiving lulls in between. We only had three shooters today, but next weekend we will have at least 8 based on the signup sheets, for both Saturday and Sunday.

Mark Gravell shot HV class, with his Air Arms S400 with the H&N 10.3 match at 910fps. His gun and 10-50 x60 Nikko weighed in at 14.3 pounds. His first card was a 224 – 3X, second card was a 236 – 7X, and his third card was a 227 – 0 X for a total of 687 - 10X

Bob Pont shot in the HV class, with his FX Falcon shooting the Air Arms 8.44 at 835fps. His gun and Nikko 8-32x56 weighs in at 12.2 pounds. Bob’s first card was a 240 – 2X, and second card was a 235 -6X, and his third card was a 230 -5X, for a total of 705 -13X

Wayne Burns shot in the LV class with his USFT #53 and Cometa 7.9gr at 809fps. His gun and Bushnell 6-24x40 weighed in at 10.4 pounds. Wayne’s first card was a 237 -5X, and second card was a 241 -5X, and his third card was a 241 -6X, for a total of 719 – 16X

Bench Rest Match Report for May 29th 2011 at Ashland Air Rifle Range, Ashland Or.

The weather was cold, breezy to windy and intermittent rain showers with the snow level just above us on the foothills. It was hard to stay warm as we shot. We had four shooters, (Bob Pont, Mark Gravelle, Larry Durham, and Wayne Burns), for the weekend event in the rifle classes, and two shooters (in the pistol class.

The new concrete benches were well received and did up our game a little. Larry Durham, said this venue is a lot easier to get a qualifying score in than some other venues like his place in Temecula, CA…. I have to agree! It seems the wind conditions are more predictable here, like say, the Grants Pass, Or., venue where I shoot with the “Wild River” club. I think we will develop a better size club, now that we have a great place to shoot. I think I can pull some of the rimfire crowd over from the White City Sportspark. Mark forgot to shoot 4 bulls on one card or his HV score would have been 30-40 points higher.. and he still got 6Xs on that target!

Heavy Varmint Class 5/29/2011

Wayne Burns- 246 – 11X, 246 -9X, 247 – 12X Total 739 – 32X
Larry Durham- 247 – 10X, 245 – 7X, 245 – 9X Total 737 -26X
Mark Gravelle- 240 – 8X, 206 -6X, 240 -5X Total 686 – 19X

Light Varmint Class 5/29/2011

Wayne Burns, 242 -10X, 241 -7X, 244 -12X Total 727 -29X
Larry Durham, 236 -5X, 242 – 5X, 243 -7X Total 721 -17X
Bob Pont, 222 -0X, 228 - 6X, 223 -3X, Total 673 -9X
