Hello, seasons greatings to all

I haven't been around for a while and I've tried to use the search function on the site but I haven't had any luck.

I've been given a Weatherby MkV in 240WM to work up a load. I've also been given some ADI 2213SC (H4831) and ADI 2209 (H4350) along with some 100gr projectiles.

Do I need magnum primers if I'm not shooting in the snow?

Do any of you have any recommendations?

Thanks in advance

Regards

Consistent powder charges, consistent bullet seating depth, and consistent neck tension are key to developing an accurate reload.

Since each rifle of a particular caliber rarely shoot the same with reloads, find some current reloading data and follow recommendations listed.

If published reloading data recommends magnum primers, by all means follow that recommendation.

www.hodgdon.com has reloading data you might want to check out.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Bob(?)

Sorry, my bad, perhaps I should have given more detail in my orriginal post.

I've sized and trimmed the cases, deburred the flash hole, cut the primer pockets to depth, weighed the cases to 0.1 of a grain and batched the projectiles.

I have also looked at the ADI, Speer, Nosler and Sierra reloading manuals so I'm comfortable with a starting point for the powders.

I was hoping someone who has more experiance with the cartridge would care to share their experiances and data.

Hope your not snowed in

Alastair: I have shot mostly 70, 85 and 87 grain projectiles out of my 240 Weatherby Rifle to date.
I have only tried one bullet/loading for the 100 grain class.
ALL my loads have used Federal 210 M (match) primers and IMR 4350 or IMR 4831 powders.
I know I am not much help other than my loading notes showed pretty consistent velocities with the Federal 210 M (match) non-magnum primers.
Best of luck with your 240 Weatherby load development project.
Asking for assistance and insights is a very good idea with this high intensity loading.
Anything to keep the number of rounds down that throat is, IMO, a good idea.

Thank you for your replies gents.

For those that are interested I ended up with 51.5grn of ADI AR2213SC (H4831) behind a 100grn projectile which was lit by a Federal 210 primer in a Norma case. Usual caveats apply etc etc.
