.236 or .237?

I see that Kreiger offers a .236 or .237 land diameter. What is the advantage of one over the other? Do some people match a particular bullet to either of these dimensions?

I would speculate that most Krieger barrel shooters use the 237. The 236 in a 4-groove is a bit of a squeeze for thin jacket benchrest bullets. I did shoot a 236 6-groove Krieger a few years ago and it did ok.

When we first started shooting

in 1998, we bought 3 Krieiger .236, 14tw barrels for our guns. Curtis and I put them on. We started shooting, finished in the top 25% in most matches. Wore them out in about 1000 rounds and never shot as good again. I finally took the third one out that I was saving for a rainy day before the nats a few years back. I was just about ready to give up on br. The gun shot a .17 agg at a club match in terrible winds and I finished in the top 10 in the heavy and top 20 in the light. For my shooting, thats pretty good. I believe I had 4 hummer barrels in my life, and there were 3 in that batch of .236 Kriegers. The other was a Shilen ratchet I had way back. Wish I had a stack of them damn .236 Kreigers that nobody wants. Only bad thing was they only lasted about 1000 rounds before cracking so bad they wouldnt stop shooting flyers.

Chino ...

The Krieger guys recommended a .237 for the 14 twist barrel I just received. They told me the .236 seem to be favored more by the fast twist crowd. If that's any help. Give them a call at 262-628-8558. Ask for Mike. Art
