Hey guys, decided to put the 22 hornet in the back part of the closet and try to go with the .221. Have tried to pull up one one Remingtons' site, but they do not list one. Do I have to go to a Cooper or is there another place out there for me to look? Will Remington build one for me? Do they have an old production model in stock-help please! Stan-share your sport:)

If my memory hasn't completely failed me I think that they made a 700 Classic in .221 a few years ago. That would be about the only place you could find a factory Remington in .221. Lots of luck finding one or someone who wants to sell one. It might be cheaper and easier to have a custom barrel in .221 screwed on an action with the correct bolt face.

Rem. Model 700 LVSF--Not in production anymore but dealers still have some in inventory.
Word of caution: brass is very hard to come by lately ---buy it when you see it

221 F/b

Appreciate the input-and yes, I'm aware of the CZ, but wanted it in a heavy barrel. I'll follow up with our local "Gun Shop" dealer and see if he can locate one somewhere in a heavy barrel. Failing that, guess my options are the Cooper or build one up myself. Again, thanks for the input-Stan-share your sport:)

.221 Fireball

I had the TC Custom Shop wip up a .221 Fireball in a heavy barrel for my Contender Rifle.
Everybody oughta have one of these.

You will like the round...

....my Dad has a fireball Classic for sale and I shoot the LV SF and love it.

Wouldn't consider either of them being heavy barrel though. To bad Rem doesn't make it in their vssf line....that would be the perfect gun for you.

Remington does make the 700 light Varmit 22 inch stainless Fluted barrel synth.stock in 221 Fireball. Just purchased one from Scheels sporting Goods last week.Dont believe it is listed in the remington cat. but i know it exist.I owne it. Know to find all componets to load for it might be tough.what a challenge Ha Ha!!!!!

My friend has the CZ and it shoots really good and I have the rem lvsf and it shoots excellent but if you want a heavy barrel you might be better off buying a stevens 200 in 223 and selling the barrel and stock and ordering a barrel from sharpshooters supply and a stock from a number of suppliers depending on what you like. The CZ and Rem do shoot good though and the CZ is around 500.00.As far as brass goes I just buy 223s or 17s or 222s whatever is cheaper and run them through the sizing die and cut them to length and turn the necks and I end up with better brass.
