I am ordering a reamer and barrel for the 220 beggs. I did a search on past threads but didn't find all the info I should have.

What is the best light turn neck .250??
What is the free bore recommended?
Is benchmark still the powder of choice?
Is the 52 grain bullet the one to use?

If someone wants to pm me as to best bullet manuf I will watch pms

thank you to all who has input.

I am ordering from PTG.

Larry, the .250 neck is probably the best choice and I have custom carbide neck bushings available for that diameter. I also have a new shipment of custom Hornady dies.

Freebore? Anywhere from .035 to .045 is fine. I prefer flatbase bullets of 52 grains.

Hodgdon's Benchmark has become my favorite powder for the 220 Beggs. A case full gives around 3550 to 3600 fps with no signs of excessive pressure.

The little sucker is a hoot to shoot and is competitive with anything out there on the 100/200 yard line.

Let me know how you get along.

Gene, speaking of loads, what have you found to be the best powder with the 6 Beggs?
Does Benchmark give good results or is H322 Extreme a better choice?

Gene,

Do you have carbide neck bushes to suit the 269 neck 6mm ? Say around 265 to 266 ??

Mickey, I still consider H4198 to be THE powder for the 6mm Beggs using 66 to 68 grain bullets but if you are not interested in velocity in the 3350 to 3400 fps range, N133, Benchmark and H322 all give excellent accuracy with a case full giving about 3200 to 3280 fps.

Hi Bryce

Yes, I now have carbide bushings for both the 220 and 6mm Beggs cartridges with neck diameters of .250, .257, .269 and .274. They are packaged as a set of three; the primary diameter plus .0005 up and down. E-mail me at genebeggs@cableone.net.

Gene,
I have plenty of all four of those powders. I'll try them each and go with the one that gives best accuracy. Many thanks.

Is it possible to order hornady dies in 220 beggs from you?? do you ship to sweden??
tried to email you but havent got any answer yet...
Best regards Jonas

i ordered

a reamer supposedly "no turn" and it came as a .254 neck. With the brass I used it was not a no turn after one firing. I had to take about 1.5 mil per side to get it to fit the way I like it. It was probably a good thing though. It took over 1 mil per side to clean up the 220 brass. I thought the brass would have been better than that. It turned out good. A .250 neck is probably a good answer, my .254 would be what I consider the max size you can go to and still turn.

Jerry, I'm surprised at the .254 neck diameter; where did you get the reamer? Dave Kiff at PTG and JGS have all four of the Beggs reamers in stock. The no-turn neck diameter for the 220 is .2570, the tight-neck diameter is .2500.

Are you and Curtis coming to New Braunfels? Hope to see you there.

Question

This cartridge is new to me. What is it based on? What capacity? do you have any photos of this round you can attach in 22 and 6mm?

Thanks,
Michael

When the 30 Beggs come out I will order from you. If you find out it shoots good!

Edwin,

thanks for the offer. It turns out that the .254 is pretty good anyway considiring how bad the brass is and needs turned anyway. I guess I got lucky for a change.

anyone who knows where to buy a hornady die for 220 beggs??
